"Bill Monroe" oil on panel 24" x
36"
It was my privilege to have the opportunity to photograph many of our
great entertainers during the late 70's and through the 80's. However,
in the early 90's, I returned to my first love, which is art. I
began to study with New England artist, Frank Covino, who teaches the
Renaissance techniques of the Old Masters. The world is always looking
for new ways of doing things, but sometimes the old ways prove to be
timeless. One day while searching through my files, I came across
some photos I had taken of Bill Monroe during an interview for TV. There
was such strength of character in the images that I decided to use those
Old Masters' techniques to create this painting. You be the judge of
whether the old ways are good or not.
I am so grateful for the gift of art that has
been given to me. I take the responsibility of developing that gift
seriously so that other people may share the blessing.
